The i means it is a petrol/gasoline engine. D would mean its diesel. “li” means its an extended wheelbase and “xi” means it is all wheel drive (new bmw’s just call it xdrive)

the last two are a little complicated and refer to the engine and variation of facelift or non-facelift. For example the 323i is non facelifted while the 325I is facelifted(updated design) and the 330i has a larger engine, usually more powerful engine. However the number is a little confusing so refer to the year/model numbers . For example the 3 series starts from E21, then E30, E36, E46, E90 (E92) and F30. And then once you know those numbers you can figure out what car has what engine, for example an E46 323i has a 2.5 I6 which is the exact same one as the E46 325i .

It will mutter up the OIL SPRAY JETS< and OIL RELIEF VALVES< and cause you MUCH ENGINE TROUBLE as it makes SLUDGE and VARNISH that penetrates into your engine sensors, like it is doing NOW! You MUST USE FULLY SYNTHETIC OIL that meets EUROPEAN STANDARDS! MOBIL ONE 0W-40 is ONE of these oils and the words, “meets BMM LONG LIFE spec numbers 01 and 04.” will appear on t e OIL LABEL! RIGHT NOW your engine will require a FULL CLEANING UP of your IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE and THROTTLE BODY only, and a good MOTOR FLUSHING as well! This will remove the BAKED IN CRUD left over by using CHEAP OILS that will destroy these FINE engines over a few short years! They ALSO had a recall on the FLAME TRAPS (otherwise known as OILSEPERATOR VALVES) whichtry to seperate SLUDGE and OIL VAPORS from the OIL system! It lives UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD!
